The committee are of the view that having achieved major success in funding the purchase of a site in Kilcloon that it will not be possible to acquire the level of funding needed to develop the site through the continuation of fundraising efforts. The size of the site ( 2.6 hectares ) gives scope for limited housing or commercial development and still have sufficient space to provide the social and sports facilities required. It is expected that the design will put forward plans to meet this objective subject to what is in best keeping with the longer-term needs of the area and also subject to likely acceptance by Meath Co. Council.
The following are the facilities which the committee consider most appropriate in the centre:
- Reception area
- Reception office
- Main hall
- Kitchen
- Meeting room
- Computer room
- Storage
- Pool/games room
- Toilets
Astra Turf
Astra turf pitches have become very popular and subject to cost it is planned to put one pitch adjacent to the centre.
Commercial Development
Being adjacent to major centres of population and generally without a traffic problem it is envisaged that business units and offices would be attracted to the site.
