Blessing and Distribution of Confirmation IconsIcons will be blessed by Fr. Rice at 11 am Mass in Kilcloon Church on 7th March 2010 and presented to the children of all three parish schools who have been confirmed on February 27th.     All those who have been confirmed in the three churches of the parish are expected to be present in the parish church for the 11 am Mass on 7th March for the presentation of the icons.   It is also the day in which the investiture of the cubs will take place after the gospel.

Batterstown Parent and Toddler Group.Inaugural meeting of Batterstown Parent and Toddler Group.   Date:  Thursday 11th March from 10.30am-12.30am.   Venue: Batterstown GAA Hall.   The aim of the group is for parents and minders of babies and toddlers in the locality to meet and chat.   This is a new, voluntary, non-profit group, so any donation of unwanted toys or books is welcome. Meath Macra Amateur Drama CompetitionMeath Macra Amateur Drama Competition takes place on Sunday 7th March in Summerhill Community Centre at 6pm and features one act plays from Kilcloon, Enfield, Athboy and Moynalty Macra clubs.  Support welcome.
Scouting in KilcloonA collection will take place after all Masses in Kilcloon on 6th and 7th March for Scouting in Kilcloon.   Scouting is for girls and boys.   Anyone interested in joining should contact Ann on 01 6285208 or Mobile: 086 2649093.   Cubs – 8 to 11 years and Scouts – 12 to 14 years.   Meetings take place on Monday night for Cubs from 7.15 to 8.45 pm in Kilcloon School and Scouts on Thursday nights from 7 to 8.30 pm.

Collection for HaitiThe collection for Haiti; our parish subscribed a total of over €6,000.   It is a very handsome sum and the proceeds include the offerings for the St. Brigid’s Crosses of which 500 were made and distributed.

St. Brigid’s CrossesA big thank you to the people of the Little Chapel and St. Brigid’s Well for this collection of €858 and the people of Kilcloon for €802.   This does not include contributions put in envelopes.   A special thank you to Delia for making all the crosses and Michael Fahy and all the organisers for helping.
Kilcloon MacraThanks to all who attended the Valentine’s Ball.   The support was greatly appreciated.   The drama will be taking place in Summerhill Hall on Sunday evening, the 7th of March.   Please come along!   Next meeting will take place on Thursday, March 11th, followed by a sports night in Batterstown Hall.   All welcome!
ConfirmationThe children in the Confirmation classes in Kilcloon, Rathregan and Mulhussey received the Sacrament of Confirmation on February 27th.   They are to be congratulated on their knowledge and on their commitment as also to be congratulated are their parents.   There were 55 Confirmed from the parish this year.
Sr. Mary Hardiman & TrocaireOur parish subscribed a total of €5,000.   The proceeds from the offerings for the St. Brigid’s Crosses is included in that and the effort is a handsome one indeed.

Preparation for First Holy Communion On 20th February 2010 the fourth Mass for the First Holy Communion children from Mulhussey N.S. will take place at the 18.30 Vigil Mass in the Little Chapel.   On 21st February 2010 the fourth Mass for the First Holy Communion children from Rathregan N.S. and from Kilcloon N.S. will take place in Batterstown at 9.30 am and in Kilcloon at 11 am respectively.
Haiti DonationThe response to the appeal for Haiti has been overwhelming. The total received to date by the Diocesan Office is €205,120. So far, €173,000 has been sent directly to Haiti through Sister Mary Hardiman and Trocaire.
Fast and Abstinence & Days of Penance1.        Abstinence from eating meat and fast are observed on Ash Wednesday and on the Friday of the Passion and Death of Our Lord Jesus Christ.2.        All who have completed their fourteenth year are bound by the law of abstinence.3.        All adults are bound by the law of fast up to the beginning of their sixtieth year.4.        In addition to Lent, all Fridays of the year are days of penance.
ConfirmationThe Confirmation for the children in the 6th classes of the 3 schools of the parish will take place next Saturday, February 27th at 11 am.
